I have a Brother MFC 9700 (one of their big sellers - according to them) connected vis USB. It comes up as a USB Composite Device on Windows 10. It works perfectly on my windows 7 laptop. The Brother site says this device's drivers are 'built-in' and it is up to Windows to update them. I have tried with no success (several weeks now). Note that when first plugged in, this was recognized but had a Code 10 error, device would not start. It is no longer recognized except as a composite device.
Devices and Printers says:Driver error Troubleshooter says:reinstall driver.OK USB Composite Device has a driver problem. Not fixed Details adds Problem with PnP devices.Detected; Potential issues:Update configured to never install: Issue not present. Basically: Brother says it's Microsoft's issue, Microsoft says it's brother's driver issue. I can't print. I have a sizable printer, copier, fax machine doorstop.
